Backup, Restore and Copy Instructions

General Installation
Information
The
default EZ-DepositSlip installation path is: C:\Program Files\EZ-DepositSlip.
This folder contains about 20 files and two sub folders \backup and \sounds.
The
executable file, often referred to as the engine or compile, is Deposit.exe.There
are 3 databases for storing information in the application. The main database is
DepositDB.mdb. This holds all of the information about your accounts, payers
and payees, and the deposit transactions. The parms.mdb holds data about
the application such as paths, user defined info and date of install. Finally
the sec.mdb contains security information.
The
backup folder can contain up to the last 10 copies of the main database (DepositDB.mdb)
with each copy referencing the date of backup in the file name (i.e.
DEPOSIT_BACKUP12212009.mdb). The backup function automatically backup your
current data when you exit the program.
Copy from an old computer to a new computer
(Windows XP, 2000)
- Install
EZ-DepositSlip to the new PC. We
recommend downloading and installing using the latest demo installation
package http://www.ezdepositslip.com/cgi/dl2.cgi
see instructions on this page.
- When
prompted for your name and keycode enter it as provided from you jewel case
or email notification. Make
sure that there were no errors during the installation.
- After
confirming your new EZ-DepositSlip installation on the new PC exit out of
the application.
- Copy
the file DepositDB.mdb from the old PC to the new PC.
- From
old pc C:\Program Files\EZ-DepositSlip\DepositDB.mdb to C:\Program
Files\EZ-DepositSlip\ on the new PC.
- From
old pc C:\Program Files\EZ-DepositSlip\sec.mdb to C:\Program Files\EZ-DepositSlip\
on the new PC.
- From
old pc C:\Program Files\EZ-DepositSlip\parms.mdb to C:\Program Files\EZ-DepositSlip\
on the new PC.
- You
will be prompted with a warning that a file with the same name exists, do
you wish to replace the old version with the new version. Select Yes.
- Open
the new PC installation normally and verify that your account and deposit
information is intact. Maintenance-Deposits.
- Exit
the application by selecting from the File->Exit menu at the top of the
application. You can reenter
the application.
Copy from an old computer to a new computer
(Windows 7, Vista)
- Install
EZ-DepositSlip to the new PC. We
recommend downloading and installing using the latest demo installation
package http://www.ezdepositslip.com/cgi/dl2.cgi
see instructions on this page.
- When
prompted for your name and keycode enter it as provided from you jewel case
or email notification. Make
sure that there were no errors during the installation.
- After
confirming your new EZ-DepositSlip installation on the new PC exit out of
the application.
- Copy
these files:
- From
old pc C:\Program Files\EZ-DepositSlip\DepositDB.mdb to C:\Program
Files\EZ-DepositSlip\ on the new PC.
- From
old pc C:\Program Files\EZ-DepositSlip\sec.mdb to C:\Program Files\EZ-DepositSlip\
on the new PC.
- From
old pc C:\Program Files\EZ-DepositSlip\parms.mdb to C:\Program Files\EZ-DepositSlip\
on the new PC.
- You
will be prompted with a warning that a file with the same name exists, do
you wish to replace the old version with the new version. Select Yes.
- With
Windows 7 or Windows Vista you must also replace these same files to the
virtual folder assigned to the username your logged in as. Copy these files:
- From
old pc C:\Program Files\EZ-DepositSlip\DepositDB.mdb to C:\users\username\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program
Files\EZ-Depositslip\ DepositDB.mdb (where username is the login username)
on the new PC.
- From
old pc C:\Program Files\EZ-DepositSlip\sec.mdb to C:\users\username\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program
Files\EZ-Depositslip\sec.mdb (where username is the login username) on the
new PC.
- From
old pc C:\Program Files\EZ-DepositSlip\parms.mdb to C:\users\username\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program
Files\EZ-Depositslip\parms.mdb on the new PC.
- You
will be prompted with a warning that a file with the same name exists, do
you wish to replace the old version with the new version. Select Yes.
- Open
the new PC installation normally and verify that your account and deposit
information is intact. Maintenance-Deposits.
- Exit
the application by selecting from the File->Exit menu at the top of the
application. You can reenter
the application.
Restore from an old installation
If you are trying to
restore or repair a corrupted main database (DepositDB.mdb) you will need to
copy and rename the most current backup file in the \backup folder to the
application folder.
The
backup folder contains the last 10 copies of the main database renamed as
“DEPOSIT_BACKUP12212009.mdb”. This is an example with the date 12/21/2009.
